Moore Jewellery reimagines them for the modern woman.
Handmade to order in a one-woman studio in Wellington, New Zealand, each piece is designed for the woman who understands quality, chooses things with intention, and believes that showing up well on an ordinary day matters just as much as any special occasion.
My designs sit somewhere between the barely-there and the more prominent, adding personality and a touch of the unexpected to a considered wardrobe, whether that's a blazer, a favourite knit, or a simple white t-shirt. Made with hallmarked 14k gold fill material, Moore Jewellery is for those who have moved away from fast fashion jewellery that tarnishes and fades, without needing to invest in solid gold. A considered alternative, made slowly and with purpose.
I'm Ulyana, the founder, designer, and maker behind Moore Jewellery. Everything is designed and handmade to order by me in my Wellington studio, one piece at a time. Each design is made to live with you, complement your favourite outfits, and become something you return to often and that feels like a part of you.
How it began
The idea of Moore Jewellery was born with a necklace I didn't make.
When I was on a walk with my newborn daughter, I bought a handcrafted necklace from a local craft shop. After wearing it that morning and receiving a compliment from a barista who made my coffee, on the way home I had this very clear thought: I could learn how to make jewellery too. Within a week I had sourced my first beads and enrolled in a jewellery making course. Within months I was selling at markets throughout Wairarapa. At first, I experimented with various stones, but pearls kept calling me. I've always found their glow captivating.
Since launching, I have spent countless hours perfecting my techniques, sourcing materials that last, and creating designs that work seamlessly with your everyday staples and can just as easily be dressed up for the most special occasions in your life.
But the philosophy behind Moore Jewellery actually started much earlier than that.
My grandmother has been a big influence in my decision to start my brand too. She has always been the most chic woman I know. She wears her jewellery, her best clothes, and lipstick everywhere she goes, even for grocery shopping or a walk in the park. She gets dressed for herself, not for anyone else, and watching her do that as a child taught me something I didn't realise until much later. That how you present yourself every day matters, and that the small details are never really small.
The early days of Moore Jewellery were beautifully chaotic. Learning to run a brand and be a mum at the same time, selling at markets with my daughter, who at under a year old was, I'm convinced, my best sales assistant. She's two now and still spends time in the studio watching me make jewellery and pack orders.
Building something slowly, alongside everything else life brings, has shaped how I make and what I make. That unhurried, intentional approach is in every piece.
A little more about me
Outside the studio I'm drawn to things that echo my approach to life and jewellery design. Natural materials, things that are made to last, and objects with history. My wardrobe is small and intentional, mostly neutrals, anchored by pieces I return to season after season. My home and studio are filled with unique pieces that I’ll cherish for a very long time, many of them vintage or second hand finds with their own story.
Sustainability and longevity matter to me in all areas of life, and that influenced the materials I chose to work with. For a long time I was frustrated by the gap between cheap jewellery that fades and tarnishes quickly and solid gold pieces that are sometimes hard to justify. Hallmarked 14k gold-filled bridges the gap between these two options. It contains up to 100x more solid gold than gold-plated pieces, and, being hallmarked, the gold content is verified to hold its quality through daily wear, not just occasional use. The freshwater pearls are selected for each design based on their lustre and character. A thoughtful, sustainable approach you can see and feel in the finished pieces.
